website is focused on sharing my thoughts and research with you. I am
captivated by the crossroads of human desire and human communication.
Here's a question for you: Do you sometimes feel vulnerable expressing what you want in your close relationships?
Most people do. It's a really common experience.
We want to be ourselves and get our wants and needs to be met in our relationships...but many times it feels risky because, well, what will the other person think?
Do they want the same thing we want? If they don't, what will happen if we have different desires? Saying what we want can trigger these questions and more. That's why I've made it the topic of my dissertation: "Voicing Vulnerable Wants in Close Relationships." On the Key Ideas page I explain and give examples of what I mean by 'voicing vulnerable wants.' If you want to be part of the project and have your voice heard in "the research," you can by taking this 25-min survey. Your participation makes my academic research more tangible and accessible to everyone.
If participating research doesn't appeal to you, you'll still probably enjoy perusing the Related Resources page where I share the works of favorite writers on the topics of desire, communication, relationships, and vulnerability. The page has both non-academic and academic resources...and a sexy resource called The Love Gap.
Most importantly, I want you to feel inspired and supported by this website to express your desires to others because your desire is what fuels your journey. Enjoy!
